Episode Description

Profile of the eccentric chess genius who won the world championship in spectacular fashion against Russian Boris Spassky in 1972, but who then became a bitter recluse. Bobby Fischer lost his title in a dispute with international chess authorities, then disappeared for decades. When he resurfaced, he became known more for his anti-Semitic and anti-American tirades than his chess, even going so far as to express delight at the September 11th terrorist attacks against the U.S.
