Martina Mariea Schiff of Sharon, Kansas cut her musical teeth playing in a local band led by her father. By the time she finished high school, she was singing and playing keyboards with them as well as other local bands. After marrying soundman John McBride, Martina and her new husband moved to Nashville where she worked as a back-up singer on demos. She also worked on her own demo tape, which John produced. One year later, McBride had a contract with RCA and was on tour with Garth Brooks. Her first album stumbled, but in 1993, McBride began to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Since then, she's continued to rack up hits and winning, among other awards, no less than four CMA Female Vocalist of the Year citations.
