Episode Description

At the age of 27, she inherited the Postum Cereal Company, a rapidly growing enterprise that would one day emerge from its continued expansion as General Foods. In spite of being a shrewd businesswoman, Marjorie is probably best known for her numerous marriages and lavish homes. Her husbands include Edward Bennett Close, E.F. Hutton (their only child was actress Dina Merrill), and Joseph Davies, US ambassador to the Soviet Union. Her homes included Mar-A-Lago, later made famous by Donald Trump, Hillwood, now a Washington museum, and Camp Topridge in the Adirondacks. It's been said that Ms. Post lived like a queen but also gave like a philanthropist contributing a fortune to good works over the course of her life.
