Episode Description

Profile of one of the most influential--and controversial--bands of all time. Formed in England in 1968 by Ozzy Osbourne (lead vocals), Tony Iommi (guitar), Geezer Butler (bass), and Bill Ward (drums and percussion), the band's occult and horror-inspired lyrics gave birth to the heavy metal genre. But though Black Sabbath exploited the occult to sell tens of millions of albums, it was the band members' own demons--drugs and alcohol--that brought them crashing back down to earth.
