Season 0 - Episode 1
Who is the Real Joran van der Sloot?
Multiple times over the past five years, Joran van der Sloot has alternatively been arrested for, confessed to and recanted his involvement in the May 30, 2005 disappearance of Natalee Holloway. Now, it seems, the law, and his own hubris, may have finally caught up with him. Van der Sloot is currently in jail in Peru for the alleged first-degree murder of 21-year-old Stephany Tatiana Flores Ramirez on May 30, 2010. He's also under grand jury indictment for a scheme to extort $250,000 from Holloway's mother. Who is this privileged son of a prominent Dutch lawyer? How has he managed to be arrested multiple times for Holloway's disappearance, especially after confessing on camera, and not be charged? What is behind his bravado? And what is likely to happen to him in the Peru case? We'll examine van der Sloot through the eyes of forensic psychologists and criminal experts, and hear from people who knew him well, including van der Sloot himself, in his own words.
